One of the greatest ever left us

One of the greatest Croatian footbal trainers in history, Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, died at the age of 88 after a long and serious illness. Ćiro, thank you for everything, you will live forever in the sports successes and legends of this city.

Miroslav "Ćiro" Blažević was born in 1935 in Travnik in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he started his brilliant coaching career very early, in 1963 in the Swiss FC Vevey. In his coaching career, he coached 19 clubs, as well as the national teams of Croatia, Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, and the Chinese Olympic team.

Ćiro was known not only as a top football expert, but also as a great motivator, and he gave the Croats some of the most beautiful football moments. With Dinamo, in 1982, after a long 24-year wait, he won an unforgettable championship title, and in 1998, with Croatia, he won bronze at the World Championship in France. He led the Croatian national team in 73 matches.
