Following an excellent performance in the first phase of the competition in Malmö, the Croatian players secured qualification for the second stage (Main Round) and now move forward with great confidence in their pursuit of the very top of European handball.
In the Main Round, Croatia faces a series of highly demanding matches against Iceland, Slovenia, Hungary and Switzerland — national teams that have belonged to the European handball elite for years. The Main Round matches will be played over the coming days, with every point proving crucial in the battle for a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship.
Croatia’s strong showing at EURO 2026 represents a natural continuation of the major success achieved at last year’s World Championship, where the national team impressed the public with outstanding quality, unity and consistency, once again confirming its place among the world’s top handball nations. That result has further raised expectations, as well as belief that this generation can once again reach the highest goals.
With its trademark fighting spirit, a strong blend of experience and youth, and the unwavering support of fans, the Croatian national team makes it clear that it has not come merely to take part, but to fight for medals and another major success for Croatian sport.
