An exciting competitive year awaits our rowers. At each regatta, the athletic form will be timed for the World Championship, where everyone will be looking for their “ticket” for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The first stop on the way is the World Rowing Cup which will be held in the country of rich rowing tradition – Croatia.

“We are proud and happy that the World Rowing Cup will be held in Zagreb, on Jarun, for the second time, this time in the presence of supporters. Since the race will be broadcast live on TV all over the world, that is certainly an excellent promotion of Croatia right before the beginning of the tourist season. I am confident that our young rowing hopes will, as always, fill our hearts with pride and lighten our cheek in front of the entire world,” stated the President of the Croatian Rowing Federation, Branimir Bašić.

The most famous crews of the world will gather at Zagreb's Jarun, headed by Olympic, world and European champions, brothers Martin and Valent Sinković in a coxless pair and Damir Martin in a single scull. The sisters Ivana and Josipa Jurković, who are well on their way to becoming the first female rowing crew to qualify for the Olympic Games, will also certainly perform for Croatia, as well as Anton and Patrik Lončarić in a coxless pair. All of them are impatiently waiting for the arrival of their world opponents since, unlike in 2021, spectators will be allowed to attend the competition. Reminder: the World Rowing Cup was held in Croatia in 2021 for the first time in history, but due to the pandemic the spectators were not allowed to attend.  Tickets for the upcoming Jarun race will be free of charge.

I'm looking forward to the Jarun race, it is always nice to row at home, and even nicer when you have the supporters on your side, which wasn't the case in 2021 due to the pandemic. This regatta is important simply because we are in the qualifying year for performing at the Olympics and I believe that my colleagues from the national team and I will present ourselves in the best possible light, as well as in Belgrade in September, where the qualifiers for the Olympics will be held as a part of the World Championship,” stated our celebrated Olympian, Damir Martin.

The World Rowing Cup is the greatest rowing competition after the World Championship, and it is expected that approximately 1000 of the best world rowers will perform there. Images of the city of Zagreb, the very heart of Europe, will be sent to 50 countries, and the spectators of the live TV broadcast will have the opportunity to enjoy the rowing spectacle.
