Zagreb on the Global Chess Stage: New Zagreb Classic 2025

An international chess spectacle bringing together over 300 players from around the world for three days of masterful moves and strategic challenges.

Zagreb is set to host one of the most prestigious chess events in the region – the New Zagreb Classic 2025, scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 2, 2025, at the Maistra City Vibes Hotel International in Zagreb.

More than 300 chess players from across the globe are expected to compete, divided into five categories based on FIDE and national rating criteria. The tournament features a classical time format of 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move for the higher-rated groups and a faster pace for beginners.

With a special prize fund of €2,500, this three-day event offers five intense rounds for Groups A, B, and C, and six rounds for Beginners and Group D. Beyond the competition, participants and visitors can enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the venue and explore the beauty of Zagreb.

Organizers invite chess players of all ages and ratings to register by January 21, 2025. Registration is open via the official tournament website, New Zagreb Classic, where additional details about rules, schedules, and accommodation options are available.
