Runnity – Run Slowly and Enjoy the City!

Running is probably the most popular sports activity in urban surroundings. These fast-pacers can be seen in parks, next to the Sava River, on the streets and on other locations which enable the lightness of their steps.

The city rush makes an ideal setting for those who wish to fill their recreational dosage in running sneakers, enjoying the sights of the city they live in. And this potential was recognised by Runnity, which now offers Zagrebians a new option – not so typical running!

Running is one of the best forms of recreation. Even though it might appear as a nightmare to some, it is actually quite natural for humans – you all probably remember running more than walking when you were little. So, where did it all go wrong? When did running become a commitment which we can hardly focus on?

We spend too much time with no movement, and running demands spending large amounts of energy and testing our persistence, therefore relaxing our sleep and improving our health. Zagreb is an excellent city for all those who wish to run, and now it also has a great option for those who are absolute running beginners – Runnity!

Rushing slowly

How many times have you seen a runner on the street and thought: “Oh, I would like to do that, but I’m not in shape”, or: “This looks great, but I need someone by my side to motivate me”? Well, Runnity has just the option for you.

This slow running community promotes running at a conversational tempo, which means that the running speed is 6 – 6.5 minutes per kilometre, just enough to have a good workout, yet slow enough for everyone to keep the pace. So forget about those strict regimes, forget about the stress and those negative feelings you have when you find the exercise too much to handle.

Slow running is proven to increase your stamina, and yet it decreases the stress on your body. And most importantly: you are moving to improve your health!

How does Runnity work and why should you give it a shot? Here are some of the details!

No rush, no stress!

Those of you who have some running experience will run on Tuesdays, and the absolute beginners run on Wednesdays – both in the after-work hours, so there is no need to worry about whether you will make it in time (the most important part is to book your slot because you will run only if there are bookings). You will be joined by other enthusiasts who also joined the group for the same reasons: they wish to run at a slower, steadier tempo.

Also, you pay for participation. Runnity community charges 6 euro participation for each run (with a special price for groups), and 7 euro participation for special weekend tours. So, there is no membership fee because you pay just for what you participated in! And once you join the group on one of the three locations, you begin your run and then you realise you’ve had enough, you can always remain in one of the drop-off zones.

Of course, there are also temporary breaks in which you can focus on the views of the city sights and take a breath.

So, does this running sound less scary than the usual one? Of course it does!
