FREESTYLE, BREASTSTROKE, BACKSTROKE AND BUTTERFLY IN ZAGREB

It is a fact well known that swimming is one of the healthiest and most useful recreational sports. It provides low-intensity aerobic exercise, full-body training, lifts mood and reduces stress, builds endurance and contributes to better sleep.

If you have been aware of this for a long time and you have included swimming in your daily life as regular exercise, then it is certainly important to you whether you will have the opportunity to practice this sport in the place where you are staying during your vacation or business trip. Zagreb really does have a lot to offer for every season; outdoor and indoor pools, but also a suitable lake, all near the city center.

The most popular place for swimming in Zagreb is the Mladost Sports Park, located along the left bank of the Sava River between the Adriatic Bridge (Jadranski most) and Lake Jarun. It is a representative sports complex that meets the highest criteria for various forms of sports recreation. In addition to the indoor and outdoor Olympic pool (26°C), there are also several smaller pools (30°C), children's pools, sunbathing area (free use of deck chairs and parasols) and other facilities.

The Mladost Winter Swimming Pool, located next to the Dom sportova and the Panorama Hotel, is the oldest indoor city swimming pool (25-meter pool). An interesting fact is that Đurđica Bjedov, the local gold medalist in the 100m and silver medalist in the 200m breaststroke, and the only Croatian swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal, was preparing there for the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1964.

If you are located in the city center in the summer, you can cool down in the Olympic swimming pool complex of ŠRC Šalata from June to September, located on an idyllic hill near the main town square. The complex consists of a large Olympic swimming pool, a narrow 25-meter pool and a children's pool.

The Svetice swimming pool complex is located west of the city center, not far from Maksimir Park and right next to the Dinamo Zagreb stadium. The complex consists of a large Olympic-size swimming pool, a warm-up pool, a swimming pool for training non-swimmers and children, and a wellness area.

If you are located on the other side of the Sava River, in Novi Zagreb, the Utrina Pool Complex will be the most suitable for your swimming recreation, located in the eponymous village. It is a sports facility with a rich sports and recreational content. In addition to a large Olympic swimming pool, children's pool, i.e. the pool for training non-swimmers, and a diving pool, the complex also offers rich accompanying facilities – gym, exercise room and wellness center. Within the pool complex there is a restaurant with a summer terrace.

In the far east of Zagreb there are two more places for swimming – Jelkovec, within the local high school complex, with three pools (large, recreational and children's pool), as well as the restaurant and swimming pool Iver (33x25 m) in Sesvetski Kraljevec, next to the eponymous primary school, with a gym and wellness.

Finally, let us remind you that during the summer in Zagreb you can swim on Lake Jarun, where there is a total of five 2500 meters long landscaped pebble beaches. The lake has a very pleasant temperature of 24ºC. The cleanliness of the beaches and water is regularly checked, which is confirmed by the international eco-label Blue Flag (there are also rescue teams and a medical service), and the beach on the island of Trešnjevka is adapted for people with disabilities (wheelchair access ramp).
